As technology moves forward and demands for higher quality products grow, there are a handful of manufactures and innovators to meet demands. In the automotive/marine world it’s a perpetual scenario. Hence the need to have products that perform well, fit well, look good, and are easy to install all this with the fact that they need to be at a good price point. Nevertheless there are times when price is a consideration, but sometimes is overlooked when there are a lot of positive attributes.  Thus the manufactures below were chosen based upon variables that are reportedly new innovations to the market.  This month’s subject is related to the classic car/truck market!

An interesting article written by Rob Sass at HAGERTYS the classic insurance company list the five items that will kill your classic ride. It an article that the experts do recognize over many years of experience with classic cars. Take a moment and look at this short article, you will find it enlightening. Classic Restorations: Lately it has been seen that some of the shows on TV related to restoration have been talking about a company that has been in the business supplying everything from sheet metal, lighting, frame members, suspension and just about everything you can imagine for one to restore your classic to modern autos and trucks. It appears that the jest of their quality in sheet metal parts is their ability to meet or exceed OEM thickness and utilizing an enhanced manufacturing process that provides a true flat or concaved surface with little or no need for any need to repair or block out as seen in many repair panels.  Looking at their product lines it appears that they are almost a one stop shopping experience covering MOPAR & GM autos and trucks. You can visit them at: "AMD Auto Metal Direct"

Corvette Classics: Older corvettes with urethane bumpers aka “covers” in 1974 on up suffer greatly overtime. They shrink, crack and are as wavy as the high seas. In my own experience my choice has always been to replace them with a flexible fiberglass unit such as TruFlex from ACI or Ecklers Corvette Flex-Fit. Why one might ask? These units provide a smooth flat surface that requires a little more fitting, but yield a stronger better appearance bumper over a new urethane replacement unit at much less the cost. Additionally they can be painted as with any fiberglass panel without the use of flex additives that sometimes yield a difference in color, and can be repaired  readily.

Metal Repairs: I have seen a lot of techniques that look good and easy to achieve but usually ends up destroying the piece beyond even a professional repair. This is true in any case even though one might be proficient in their trade.  However as many are driven to do the things that we do i.e. human nature, there are always options for one to take on even the most difficult of situations without becoming a professional at the same. My personal experience deals with many types of welding and as such have seen a lot of different techniques. Some work some don’t by virtue of either the product, application and sometimes simply the guy who’s holding the touch. In any event for small jobs there has been a level of success utilizing a product from “MuggyWeld”. We have seen some good results in the pot metal repair segment and we are now looking at some aluminum applications. Many guys I talk to love their products. Please keep in mind this is a reflection based upon our own shop experience and in no way do we guarantee your own results. You can visit their web site is at: "MuggyWeld"

In any event, I hope that in all your ventures might they be successful and one filled with rewards.
